Solar Atmosphere

As you all know that Sun is the most prominent feature in our solar system. Sun radiates energy at the rate of 3.9x1026J/s and has been doing for several billion of years. The temperature of the interior of the sun is of the order of 107k and that of atmosphere is of the order of 6000 k. The Sun's outer visible layer is called the photosphere, the photosphere has a depth of 500 km. The temperature of which ranges from about 4500 k at the top and 7500 k at the base of the photosphere. The visible disk of the sun which will be recognized ad the solar surface may be considered as the base of the photosphere. The continuous absorption spectrum of the sun produced by hydrogen ion's originates entirely in the photosphere. Most of the fraunhoffer lines originated in corona.
Above the photosphere line the second major layer solar atmosphere known as chromosphere. This layer extends nearly 20,000 km above photosphere. With the gas density gradually thinning in the outwards direction. Faculae, Flares and sun's spot arise in the chromosphere.
The corona is the natural and smooth extension in the chromosphere. These are the e mines clouds of glowing plasma that erupts from the upper chromosphere. The outer region of corona extends far into the space which consist of particles traveling slowly away from the sun, the corona can only be seen during total solar eclipse.
